Which mode hides text safely?
Black. Pixelation and blur hide faces well, but strong software can sometimes guess large blurred text; a black box leaves nothing to guess.
Is the location in the photo removed?
Yes: the picture is re-encoded and comes out without EXIF, GPS included.
