Does white-out really delete the text?
No: a white or black box covers the text on the page as it is seen and printed, but the text is still in the file and can be copied out. To remove information for good, save the pages as images (PDF → images, then images → PDF) after covering it.
Can I change the text that is already in the PDF?
Not directly: a PDF has no paragraphs to edit, only letters at positions. Cover the old words with a white box and type the new ones on top.
Is anything uploaded?
No. It all happens in this tab.
