How are words counted?
By the browser's own word rules for the language: "don't" and "e-mail" are one word each, numbers count, punctuation does not.
Does "characters" include spaces?
Yes, and line breaks too; "Without spaces" leaves all of them out. An emoji or a letter with an accent counts as one character, the way you see it.
How is reading time estimated?
At 200 words a minute for reading silently and 130 for speaking aloud — average adult rates.
